Why Android Versions are codenamed on the names of eatables?
location: droidmania.com - date: November 11, 2011
Android 1.5 -- Cupcake
Android 1.6 -- Donut
Android 2.1 -- Eclair
Android 2.1 -- Froyo
Android 2.3.2 -- Ginderbread
Android 3.1 -- HoneyComb
Android 4.0 -- Ice Cream Sandwich
What's the relation between Google and eatables?? Why are Android versions always codenamed as something eatable? Does anyone know the answer??
ARM Cortex A9 Android TV box stuck on Android logo
location: droidmania.com - date: April 4, 2013
So I am in possession of an Android 4.0 OS Internet ARM Cortex A9 3D HDMI Full HD 1080P TV Box Media Player. It's actually this one ht tp:/ /hz00.i.aliimg.com/img/pb/721/782/488/488782721_016.jpg
This device has no reset hole at the back. The player will not boot. Whenever I turn it on it just shows the Android logo and nothing happens. The blue light doesn't blink, and nothing is responsive. I've tried leaving it on for hours and hours and turned it off and on many times, but it will never go past the Android logo. It has been like this from the beginning.
Is there any way I can get this device unstuck or reinstall it? I've read the firmware upgrade has to be done from within a menu on the device, so this is impossible for me.
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
Android vs IOS Why Android is better
location: androidpark.com - date: June 20, 2012
So we've all been there: trying to explain to an Apple fan why Android is better.
Well here I've compiled a list of the reasons why Android is better, while I'm open to any suggestions or corrections.
I'm not an Android fanboy, I'm a fan of technology and I own Apple devices, so this is pretty objective.
I'm leaving out my personal preferences and opinions, only putting my examples into cases the average user will find himself in.
1. IOS Crashes more than Android http://www.forbes.com/sites/tomioger...d-a-data-dive/
2. IOS has fake multitasking where you can't download while doing anything else and apps are put into suspension when you leave them and stop running.
3. Google apps are much better on Android with better interfaces(e.g. YouTube) and more functionality (e.g. Chrome, Navigation)
4. There is no Flash player on IOS
5. Sharing is very limited on IOS where you simply don't get the choices you get on Android
6. File Management on IOS simply isn't the
Can someone tell me why android doesn't close apps?
location: androidpark.com - date: January 30, 2010
honestly i find this really annoying, especially to the average person tha doesn't think to go download a task manager and kill everything after doing anything on the phone so your battery lasts more than 6 hours.
here's a simple logic i'd like to use.
if you use the "back" button to exit an application, kill it.
if you use the "home" button to leave an application, don't kill it until you go back to it and use "back" to exit. or kill it with a task manager.
like why hasn't someone implemented this? close or minimize its as simple as that people. i really hope the android developers listen to me on this one.
im sure nobody would be happy if microsoft came out with an update that disabled the X and you could only minimize applications or kill them with the task manager. come on. thats why i'm not totally satisfied with android yet.
Can I use logcat to see why Android repeatedly kills a GPS app?Or can I protect it from being killed
location: droidradar.com - date: September 17, 2013
How do I log when and why Android kills an app?
The problem I'm having is I'm trying to use my phone as a GPS tracker to log thinks like hiking, sailing and MTB rides but after a while I pull my phone out and the tracking app is no longer running! This happen when using various apps, like Sport Tracker and MyTracks. It really makes tracking long journeys impossible!
The phone I'm using is my little Sony Ericsson X10 mini pro. Rooted, running custom Gingerbread 2.3.7 ROM (miniCM184.108.40.206), 256MB RAM. Runs very well usually, with about 35MB free most of the time. I don't use no stupid task killers.
I suspect that due to the phone's limited RAM, something is periodically starting up (play services, for example) and Android is killing my GPS app to reclaim RAM because the process has been running for a long time with no user input.
My question is how can I use logcat to find out when and why my GPS app is getting killed? Or if there are any apps that startup at the same time
